Travel
My favorite time for photography has always been when I’m out in the world on a trip somewhere. No matter whether it’s a local one-day photo-safari, an extended motorcycle adventure, or travels by car around America there is something about being away from your normal environment that really opens your eyes to the world in a unique way. I have been fortunate enough to travel in Europe on several occasions which is an especially rewarding cultural experience. I find myself drawn to the little bits of regular life I see and how they differ from what is the norm here. My photographs use the interaction of light, color, and depth to capture the impact of physical spaces. My work is part personal travelogue, part visual record of the environments we share. I want to pass along the feeling of discovery I experience while traveling. It’s my way of celebrating the quirks of the world. I post images on Instagram while I am traveling but also add to it when I am back home in the studio cataloging and processing my images. I find working on my photographs, researching, and writing about my experiences is a great way to relive my adventures.
